A Review (finally): Acrimony

Image result for acrimony
I finally watched the movie Acrimony...

I want everyone who said that Taraji had no reason to be mad or snap to tell me why you feel that way?

Because listen...

That man cheated on her, used her money until she had not a dime left, had her carry the financial weight of their whole marriage for over twenty damn years. She begged and pleaded with this man to get a job and help her. Begged and pleaded...

This woman was tired. And YET, she worked and worked and worked in order for him to sit home and work on his craft.

Finally, after draining the damn life out of her, he gets on. His invention gets picked up, after she leaves him.

After she says enough is enough is when his ship comes sailing in. He then gets with another woman who knew someone who knew someone... She pulled some strings to get him put on.

THE SAME DAMN WOMAN HE CHEATED ON HER WITH ALL THOSE YEARS AGO!

He gives Taraji ten-million-dollars and buys her mama house back that she lost because of him.

All of this after over twenty-damn-years of her working her fingers to the damn bone...

All of this after she has damn near no life left in her...

After all this, y'all mean to tell me this woman ain't have the right to flip her shit on this man?

Oh.

I'm not even giving this a rating. F*ck it.

Coming soon: Tell Me No More

“He’s getting married!” “What?” “Jamie… he’s getting married,” I repeated frantically. There was a wild look of panic in my eyes, I was sure. My whole world seemed to be crashing down around me. Nothing prepared me for the news that the man I still loved was about to walk down the aisle and make another woman his wife. Kay had to catch me in her arms before my legs gave out on me. For four years I’d been trying to come to grips with the fact that I’d let a good man get away. Jamie and I had been together for almost two years before I’d cheated on him with my son’s father’s best friend. I’d met Jamie while I was head over heels in love with Aric. Even after finding out Aric was married, I held on to hope that he and I could be together. That was until his wife, Stephanie, tried to kill me and my son while I was pregnant with him. Even then, it took a while for me to see that Aric and I just weren’t meant to be together. I finally saw that Jamie was the man I ...

Love, Lies & Pleasure by Kai Leakes

Black on black on black! Black love is in abundance in Kai Leakes newest release, Love, Trust & Pleasure . This is the second book in her Brothers of Kemet (BOK) series. Let me just go ahead and let you guys know that the further along this series gets, the more you’re going to love the men you meet. I have my fave, but let me get into this review. I'm not going to even hold y'all. Let's jump right into this review. First thing I want to say is, if you haven't read book 1, please do before you jump into book 2. Kwame is tall, dark and handsome in every sense of the word. We learn early on that he is still grieving the loss of his wife. Throughout the first novel, Kai Leakes does a great job of showing this without making it the focal point of why Kwame is who he is. However, in book 2, he kind of goes off the rails a bit early on when he calls Karma by his deceased wife's name. That threw me for a loop because as I said, in book 1 Kai did a good job of showing K...

Snippet: Everyone Knows It But Me (unedited)

The sun was shining but it was cool for a spring day in May. Trees danced around in the wind. People were out on the island. It didn’t matter to them that they had to wear sweaters or light jackets. The smell of the ocean was tranquil. Even though I would have to drive an hour and some change to get to Hilton Head where the corporate meetings would be held, I still chose to stay on Tybee Island. I knew people would start looking for me and my job would tell my husband where I was which was why I took a detour to the island. Tybee Island, also known as Savannah Beach, was a tourist attraction that also offered oceanfront property rentals, another reason I chose to stay there. The smell of barbecue and different foods were in the air. Music was saturating the atmosphere, and children were playing. The Black Heritage festivities for the weekend were already in play as I pulled onto 1 st Street. I was anxious and excited to get into the house I had rented so I could relax before...
